A new multimillion-dollar hotel is to be built on the old Qantas headquarters site at Auckland International Airport.
Auckland Airport announced the project on Thursday and said construction is estimated to cost around $30-40 million.
It will be a three-star 144 room hotel, with a new five-star hotel expected to be announced in the coming months.
Auckland Airport is currently in talks with the hospitality industry to find a brand to run the hotel.
The building was designed by Dalman Architects in Christchurch.
Construction will begin before 2019 and the hotel will open in late 2020.
The announcement follows the opening of the unique Naumi Hotel near the airport earlier this year.
