Air Chathams operated its first service to Norfolk Island from Auckland on Friday morning.
The airline operates a Convair 580 on the route which takes just over two hours.
The inaugural flight was piloted by founder and owner Craig Emeny and his son, Duane Emeny who is the general manager of Air Chathams.
"Forward bookings indicate it’s going to be another successful route for our family airline,” Duane Emeny said.
Air Chathams has experienced rapid growth since it expanded its operations in 2015. It now flies between eight destinations and carries over 100,000 people a year.
Air New Zealand flies to Norfolk Island from Brisbane and Sydney.
