A cruise ship with more than 6000 passengers on board broke down as it left Wellington Harbour on Monday evening.
The Ovation of the Seas suffered mechanical issues and came to a stop.
The cruise ship called for tugs shortly after 7:30pm after an issue with the propulsion engines, according to a CentrePort spokesperson.
The stationary cruise ship, which is one of the largest to regularly visit the capital, attracted the attention of locals.
"Ovation of the Seas ship having some issues in Wellington Harbour. Two tugs assisting," one local tweeted.
"The Ovation of the Seas hasn't moved for more than one hour. Anything wrong?" wrote another.
The issue has since been resolved and the ship is currently on its way to Napier after a half-hour delay.
