A Canadian man's travels around New Zealand have inspired him so much he's decided to get the ultimate reminder - a tattoo to commemorate his time here.
Eric Lemoine posted his tattoo to the social media site Reddit, showing off his ink. It includes a kiwi bird, a fern, and his Mitsubishi L300 camper van with a South Island backdrop.
Newshub spoke to the traveller, who explained why he decided to get such iconic artwork permanently on his skin.
"I was looking at getting another tattoo for a while now and I wanted to get something that would encapsulate my New Zealand trip because I'm having an amazing time here," he told Newshub.
"I got the mountain backdrop with the sun, lakes and trees because this is a very common scene in New Zealand and I got to see this a lot especially camping in the van for extended periods of time.
"The van is the same make and model as I've been travelling around with and it's been amazing so it had to make it on the tattoo. Finally, the kiwi and the fern were to explicitly symbolize this tattoo as being Kiwi."
Lemoine has been travelling New Zealand since the beginning of March 2019 on a 23-month working holiday visa. He says his favourite part of travelling here has been being able to freedom camp in a country as beautiful as this one.
"Got to see so many bits of New Zealand that I probably wouldn't have been able to without my own accommodation on wheels," he told Newshub.
"But one of my favourite parts of travelling, though, is getting to meet locals and just chit-chat. Whether it's a small conversation on the street or fishing next to someone and getting to know all about them! I was able to get a good insight on what it would be like to live here. And I like it!"
He's not sure what his future travel plans will be - apart from finishing up seeing New Zealand - and has a final message to New Zealand.
"Thank you to everyone that's been awesome in my journey in New Zealand, this place is amazing and the people here are even better!" Lemoine says.
"I couldn't be happier that I'll have this tattoo on me for the rest of my life, New Zealand holds a special place in my heart."
And Kiwis who have seen the memorial to their homeland are wishing him the best with his travels.
"Very cool and a nice tribute thanks man welcome back anytime," one commented on the Reddit post.
