Not only is Kate McCue the captain of one of the most modern and flash cruise ships in the world, she also has a following of more than 300,000 followers on TikTok and over 170,000 followers on Instagram.
While most of these followers are fans of McCue and her job, it has exposed her to some of the nastier elements of social media.
Taking questions on TikTok, McCue was asked: "How can you be a captain? Your only a woman (sic)".
In the video, the captain says she doesn't want to "stoop to the troll's level", but decided in this day and age, something needed to be said.
"Normally when I'm scrolling through comments and I see something like this, I just totally ignore it and move on with my life," McCue said.
"I think it's about high time that I address this because it's 2020, I'm shocked that someone still doesn't know the difference between 'you're' and 'your'."
Her hilarious response, which completely disarms the sexist comment by pointing out the writer's inability to spell, sent the number of views on the video to more than 5.7 million on Twitter, and more than one million on TikTok.
McCue then continues to educate the troll on spelling, punctuation and sexism.
"'You're', as in 'you are'. Like 'you are sexist'."
"'Your' is something possessive, so it belongs to you, like 'your ignorance'."
The captain finished off with one last subtle dig.
"I'm here for you. If you need any more clarification, you can find me here... in my captain's chair," she concluded.
