We've all heard the warnings that shop shelves could be empty by Christmas this year, but a new service launched by Tourism New Zealand (TNZ) could be part of the gift giving solution.
TNZ has launched Gifting Hub on NewZealand.com, a portal that promotes gift vouchers for experiences run by tourism operators across the country.
The service will also provide income to the struggling tourism sector regardless of the country's COVID-19 status.
TNZ says the website is "a treasure trove of ideas that are ready to be gifted to your nearest and dearest to enjoy."
It says the platform isn't simply a voucher portal site, but a way to maintain flexibility when booking something exciting for a friend or family member.
There are hundreds of experiences listed, from skydiving at Wanaka, to wildlife cruises, romantic weekends away, or walking through treetops at Redwoods Tree Walk.
The majority of vouchers are valid for at least 12 months, with some remaining valid for up to three years.
