Mövenpick Hotel Auckland opens its doors at 8 Customs St next week on May 16, hoping to entice sweet-toothed customers with features including 'chocolate hour' and a 24-hour sundae service.
It is the latest hotel to open in New Zealand from the Accor group and the first from its premium Swiss-born hospitality brand, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts.
While the brand name is most recognisable to New Zealanders for ice cream, the Mövenpick accommodation line promises "indulgence done right", inviting guests to "taste the good life" at its outlets "where every moment is designed to be savoured and every stay is full of possibilities to relish".
Aotearoa's second Mövenpick Hotel is set to open on Wellington's The Terrace in July.
"Mövenpick Hotel Auckland offers something different to the New Zealand market. Guests will receive a world-class hotel experience and enjoy the distinct moments and flavours of Mövenpick," said Sarah Derry, Accor Pacific CEO.
"The strategic location of both Mövenpick hotels in cosmopolitan centres provides travellers with a gateway to each city, and all the culinary, retail and commercial amenities they have on offer."
The Auckland hotel will feature 207 guest rooms and suites, on-site and virtual gyms, Asian Fusion cuisine at the BODA restaurant, a street-side café, a dedicated meeting and events conference room and a library.
The chocolate hour is billed as a decadent chocolate experience with live demonstrations of things like rolling truffles and icing cupcakes. It will be staged every afternoon in the lobby.
If you prefer your sweet treats in the comfort of your room, the sundae service is able to be ordered at any time of day or night, and promises to bring your "wildest dessert dreams to life".
Children who accompany adults are entitled to free ice cream for the duration of their stay.
