A new virtual reality (VR) attraction is opening on Wednesday at Auckland's Sky Tower which offers a computer-generated slide around the building travelling at a virtual 160km/h.
Customers would pop on a VR headset 186m above street level up the tower before being virtually whizzed around the tower with 360-degree views.
The attraction, SkySlide, joins other recent additions at the SkyCity complex such as the All Blacks Experience and Wētā Workshop Unleashed.
SkyCity's Chief Operating Officer Callum Mallett said SkySlide has been in the works for years, but conceded opening it during the COVID-19 pandemic "had its challenges".
"We're really excited to be opening such an adrenaline pumping attraction at the Sky Tower. There is nothing like this in Auckland or even New Zealand," said Mallett.
"SkySlide gives adults and kids from across the country a new reason to visit Tāmaki Makaurau and even more reasons for international visitors to add it to their 'must dos' when they travel to New Zealand."
The SkyCity website is taking bookings for SkySlide from $40 for adults and $28 for children aged 10-14.
Those costs include Sky Tower admission.
