The phrase "once in a lifetime opportunity" is a little overused, but offering sports fans the opportunity to spend the night at one of the world's most iconic stadia is all that and more.
Located in the second tier of the world famous Melbourne Cricket Ground, the Unforgettable Legends Lounge was opened to two fans for last week's ICC Men's Twenty20 World Cup final, turning the Southern Hemisphere's biggest stadium into their hotel for the night.
That's right, for the first time in its 169-year existence, the MCG - with a capacity of over 100,000 - doubled as accommodation for the first person to secure the room through a one-off Booking.com promotion along with a guest.
Costing a bargain $30 per night - a reference to the No.30 shirt number of Australia test and ODI captain Pat Cummins - the recipient arguably had the greatest value for money stay of any fan attending this year's World Cup.
Aside from the spectacle of a World Cup final, the lucky guests were also treated to their own in-suite masseuse, as well as a personal chef inside their room after being flown to Melbourne for the game.
The winners were two cricket fans from rural Victoria and although they had to put up with seeing old enemy England lift the trophy by defeating Pakistan, the experience wasn't soured in the slightest.
"Our winners from Wodonga, Victoria said their experience truly was unforgettable," said Booking.com Asia Pacific managing director Laura Holdsworth.
"They said every detail was thought of by Booking.com and their friends and family will be sick of hearing about it for the next six months.
"Both guests were massive cricket fans, so it was so wonderful to bring this travel experience to life for them."
The lounge was adorned with cricket paraphernalia, including decorations signed by captain Pat Cummins.
As part of Booking.com's drive towards sustainability, all products in the suite will be reused and repurposed for future events.
"It was also important to us that we also chose Australian-owned businesses and products throughout the suite where possible, from the artwork through to the homewares," said Holdsworth.
"On behalf of the guests, we also made a donation to Disaster Relief Australia supporting the floods recovery efforts across Victoria."
And while Sunday was the first time the Southern Hemisphere got the chance for a one-off stay like this, Booking.com promises there will be plenty of opportunities around the world for sport fans to do the same in the future.
"Booking.com has run similar unforgettable experiences such as this including at Wembley Stadium for our partnership with UEFA," Holdsworth continued.
"We certainly have more once-in-a-lifetime experiences in the works for Booking.com in 2023."
