Jetstar NZ is running another 'return for free' domestic sale this week and along with it is giving away free taxi rides in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
Cabs displaying an orange Jetstar flag in those cities can be hailed by anyone - whether they are Jetstar customers or not - who will then receive a ride up to the value of $100.
There is a maximum of one ride per person and they must be within the city they're hailed in.
The 'Jetcar' promotion ends at the same time the 'return for free' sale ends, which is 11:59pm on Thursday, March 9.
Airfares in the sale are available to purchase from 12am Wednesday morning and include:
- Auckland - Christchurch from $62
- Auckland - Dunedin from $82
- Auckland - Queenstown from $85
- Auckland - Wellington from $61
- Christchurch - Wellington from $59
- Wellington - Queenstown from $71.
These prices do not include checked baggage and as with any air travel sale, potential customers should carefully check the terms and conditions before purchasing.
Travel dates vary per route but include mid-July - mid-September and mid-October - late November of this year.
Subscribers to the paid Club Jetstar programme have early access to the sale airfares.
For domestic travellers, the sale is a good sign that competition between Jetstar and Air New Zealand is heating up, meaning more cheap deals should be on the way amid the cost of living crisis.
"With our Jetcars, customers not only fly home for free but drive home for free too," said Jetstar's head of New Zealand Shelley Musk.
"If you spot one of our Jetcars sporting an orange flag, wave it down for a ride home on Jetstar. You might score some extra goodies too."
