AirAsia has launched a sale with travel dates until October next year that may tempt Kiwis planning an overseas holiday.
A promotional email announced the sale would include flights from Auckland to Sydney for $139 and to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia via Sydney for $499, but on certain dates they may be cheaper.
Newshub conducted a search and found airfares in the sale included Auckland-Kuala Lumpur for $449 and $366 for the return flight.
The promotional airfares went on sale on Monday and will run until June 18 unless sold out prior, for travel dates between September 1, 2023 and October 8, 2024.
The sale airfares don't include checked baggage and have other terms and conditions potential customers should carefully check before booking travel, as is the case with any sale.
The promotion also includes discounts on baggage, insurance, seat selection and food packages, as well as discounted premium flatbeds in addition to economy seats. Those are said to be on offer from $1299 for the Auckland-Sydney-Kuala Lumpur flights.
AirAsia is a low-cost Malaysian airline based in Kuala Lumpur that is offering a total of 130 routes in the sale this week.
The airline said destinations like Penang, Bali, Kuala Terengganu and Langkawi can be reached from Kuala Lumpur for around NZ$10 each way in the sale, while Singapore, Jakarta and Bangkok would be around NZ$25.
The AirAsia sale follows Cathay Pacific recently running a similar sale in which only taxes and surcharges were payable, meaning one could fly Auckland-Hong Kong return for around NZ$566.
