An American woman has gone viral on TiKTok with emotional videos documenting her move to New Zealand and the warm welcome she has received from Kiwis online.
Kayla King, who goes by the username @kaylagoesoutside, has more than 4500 followers with whom she shares travel content.
In the video announcing her move to Aotearoa, King appears tearful as she films herself packing a suitcase and taking off from the airport.
"I have obviously been thinking about this day for weeks and I just - I cannot even believe that today is literally the day. I don't really know how to feel right now," she said in the clip.
"I'm like, definitely, like, really excited, but I'm also really nervous and I'm also feeling a little anxious. I'm really sad to leave my family, then feeling excited to go - I don't know. I'm just feeling so overwhelmed because I've wanted to do this for so long, like literally so long.
"I'm just so proud of myself for getting to the day that I'm like actually moving to another country. Anyways, I am going to, you know, get my shit together and just get ready to move to the other side of the world!"
The video was shared last week and has racked up over 40,000 views and 380 comments, most of which wished her well - although some warned her of how expensive living in Auckland can be amid the cost of living crisis.
In subsequent videos, Kayla emotionally thanked the New Zealanders who left kind messages for her and assured others that New York - her former home - is more expensive than Auckland overall.
Her TikToks in Auckland have also expressed the challenges she has experienced in her first days in the city, including with supermarket shopping and public transport.
