There's more good news for the extraordinary migratory bird, the godwit.
Fresh from being voted bird of the year, the tiny traveller which divides its time between New Zealand and Alaska is celebrating an agreement with the Chinese which will help safeguard its future and that of its cousin, the red knot.
Six-thousand godwits are presently celebrating the completion of their epic eight-day journey.
They've had a couple of weeks to recover from their 11,000 kilometre trip and on the way, many godwits and red knots stop to refuel in China.
However, urban sprawl there is gobbling up the countryside.
