Today Newshub was the first to visit the outer island of Malake, where they are desperate for aid.
The island has a population of 1300 and 140 houses. Almost all of the houses have been completely destroyed and they urgently need tarpaulins for shelter.
Their piped supply of clean drinking water has been cut off from the mainland so they rely on rainwater in one well on the island and they are running out of food.
The people on the island have been unable to communicate for outside help (Melissa Davies)
