A lion cub found roaming the streets in Russia turned out to be a child's birthday present.
The cub was spotted wandering around the town centre in Ufa, 1165km east of Moscow. People even stopped to take selfies with the apparently tame beast.
Photos of people with the cub were posted to social media site VK (VK)
Emergency services were called to the unusual sight by a passerby who managed to tie it to a fence, The Telegraph reports.
The seven-year-old boy's father says the animal escaped while being taken to the vet for vaccinations.
The cub and the boy have reportedly since been reunited.
