A South Korean cargo ship carrying iron ore across the Atlantic Ocean has disappeared - and it's feared it has sunk.
The Stellar Daisy's last communication by radio came on Saturday (NZ time), when it was 2400km from the South American shoreline.
"A search operation is continuing for the 22 people," a South Korean foreign ministry official in Seoul told Reuters.
Twenty-four were on board - 16 Filipinos and eight South Koreans. Two of the Filipinos made it out alive, rescued after being found by on a liferaft.
The Uruguayan Navy has since found an oil slick 3700km off the coast, a sign the 260,000-tonne ship went down.
The Stellar Daisy was en route from Brazil to South Africa.
