A woman has been hospitalised after her bungee jump went horribly wrong.
She leapt from the 15-metre La Negra bridge in the province of Florida, Bolivia - but her jump ended in a sickening impact as she smashed into the shallow riverbed below.
The horrifying incident was caught on camera, and has been aired as a warning to tourism operators to make sure all safety precautions are followed.
As the woman prepares to leap off the bridge, a man gives her a final check. But it was only after she fell that they realised her rope was too long.
She plummets down into the ankle-deep water, and a loud splash is heard. Her body lies in the water as two people rush to help her.
The incident was witnessed by Shyrleny Cuchallo Ribera.
"It is not very common to see this kind of sport here. We saw the lady jumping and for unknown reasons she ended up crashing against the riverbed, as it was not deep enough," she told local media.
"It was so sad to see a young woman in such pain. They should have taken more care with this kind of risky activity."
Ms Ribera said the woman couldn't move on her own, and was only able to open and close her eyes.
Miraculously, she survived with only minor injuries.
Oscar Sandoval, the director of the company responsible for the bungee operation, blamed the accident on human error.
"[The accident] was a human mistake. Somebody did something wrong. We are checking the videos in order to know who or what released the brake of the rope," he says.
"It is the first time something like this has happened to us; we have a lot of years of experience."
