A British woman has faced criticism after emblazoning the word "vegan" across her face as a tribute to animals and her lifestyle.
Twenty-two-year-old Kate Alice Bullen, who is self-employed, posted about the tattoo on Twitter on January 25, saying she was in love with the new ink.
"Got a suicide awareness and vegan tattoo today, love em," she wrote.
While there were some users who were supportive of the tattoo, a lot of people criticised Ms Bullen for her new ink, saying it was unnecessary.
"Things you *can't* get: A job," one user replied.
Another posted two screenshots from Ms Bullen's snapchat, including one showing the finished product proclaiming she was now saved "from telling I'm vegan every 5mins" .
"Stop the world I'm getting off," the post said.
Even tattoo artist Jordan McCrea was hit by criticism and forced to take down an image of her work on Ms Bullen from Facebook. She defended her decision to do the tattoo.
Ms McCrea also clarified the ink used in the tattoo was vegan and did not contain animal products.
Despite the negative attention, Ms Bullen is delighted with her new look, saying the criticism didn't bother her.
"I chose to get this tattoo as I'm incredibly passionate about veganism and know I'll be vegan for life," she told LADbible.
"Of course the tattoo on my face received quite a lot of negative reactions because people seem to get upset when they see the word 'vegan'.
"I believe this upset comes from a feeling of defensiveness because I encourage them to think about the consequences of their actions."
