A cat has been caught on camera clinging desperately to the roof of a van travelling 96km/h down a highway.
KETV reporter Chinh Doan was sent a video of the grey and white cat on top of the car, showing him meowing and cowering in fear as his owners sped down a motorway, unaware of their extra passenger.
"A friend shared this video of a cat riding on top of this van going 60 mph on I-480 between Martha & Farnam in Omaha Friday around 8:30 p.m," she wrote
"People in the van had no idea!"
Ms Doan's tweet sparked a search on social media and the cat was soon located.
It turns out the cat is called Rebel, and he lives with the couple seen driving the van.
Owner Michelle Criger told KETV she thought she heard a meow, but had no idea it was coming from her cat perched on the roof.
As soon as they realised, they slowed down and plucked him off, none the worse for wear.
"When I got him off the roof of the van, he wasn't scared at all," Ms Criger told KETV. "He wasn't shaking, heart racing, nothing. We were more scared than him."
Now before she leaves, Ms Criger always checks the roof and underneath the van to make sure Rebel isn't taking a ride.
