The man has pleaded not guilty to animal cruelty after admitting he committed two sexual acts on the horse.
The Daily Examiner reported that he told the police the animal had smelt his crotch and winked at him - two movements which he deemed to be the animal giving him consent to perform the acts.
The horse's trainer told the court the two-year-old filly completely changed after the incident, and they had to remove her from the stable and put her into a paddock to get her head right.
Magistrate Karen Stafford said the two sex acts amounted to animal cruelty, and Webb-Jackson was sentenced to jail time of 10 months, with a non-parole period of four months. He was also fined AU$700.
