A female corrections officer has resigned from an Australian jail after it emerged she'd been having sex with an inmate who was locked up for killing a policeman.
The prison guard, who was at the time working at the Mid North Coast Correctional Centre in New South Wales, was in a "sexual relationship" with Sione Penisini, 2GB reports.

Penisini was sentenced to 36 years in jail over the 2002 murder of Sydney police officer Glenn McEnallay. He is considered an 'extreme high risk' inmate, and 2GB reports he seriously assaulted a fellow prisoner just a week ago.
Penisini, who won't be eligible for parole until 2029, has now been moved to Goulburn Super Max jail. The female guard he was in a relationship with has resigned.
Officer McEnallay's family has been left furious by the revelation, with his mother levelling much of the blame at the facility.
"I just couldn't believe that something like this could happen within the prison system," Judy McEnallay-Mulheron told 7 News Australia.
"It can't just be the two people within the prison that knew it. There has to be other people who have known about this, who have covered the whole situation up."
It's not the first time a female guard has had a sexual relationship with an inmate at the Mid North Coast Correctional Centre. In 2015, a different corrections officer was sacked over an affair with Kieran Loveridge, who is serving time for a coward-punch killing.
