A UK parking warden has been criticised for giving an ambulance officer who stopped for a drink of water a parking ticket.
The incident unfolded outside a Tesco Express in Northwich, Cheshire, where the ambulance was parked on double yellow lines, causing a feud between the paramedic and the warden, The Daily Mail reports.
In a video posted on Twitter, members of the public came to the paramedic's aid to try reason with the warden who refused to back down from issuing the ticket.
"Where would you like me to park? It won't go in a bay; I can't fit it. I'm not going to leave it in a disabled space," the paramedic says.
"I've been on since 6.45am this morning; I've had nothing to drink and nothing to eat and now I would like to go to Tesco to get some water."
The warden didn't budge, saying, "I understand. That's fine, but you can't be parking on a double yellow line can you?"
The argument has left Twitter users divided over who was in the wrong.
"100% I hope this fine is revoked and the attendant is disciplined over this. Emergency service have it hard enough without having to pay for tickets on their disgracefully low salaries," one person wrote.
While another said, "It's not on an emergency call so why should it get preferential treatment? Double the fine, she should know better."
Euro Parking Services has since apologised for the incident and cancelled the fine, it says.
And despite the public outrage, the warden will keep his job but will be retrained, Euro Parking Services said.
