A Swedish military shooting range has been bombed as part of efforts to tackle one of the forest fires raging in the country.
The country's Air Force dropped an explosive as part of an unconventional method to tackle one blaze.
Undetonated ammunition at the shooting range was hampering efforts as firefighters have had to keep a safe distance.
Dropping the bomb removed the concern of any unexploded ordinance and starved the fire of some oxygen, The Local Sweden reports.
Hundreds of firefighters have been battling some 50 blazes across Sweden, including in parts of the Arctic Circle.
Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said on Friday (local time) his government was working to get the necessary resources to fight the fires.
Italy and Norway have sent assistance such as water bombing planes, helicopters and staff. Denmark, Germany, France and Lithuania have pledged to help.
Temperatures in Sweden and other Nordic countries like Finland have reached over 32degC over the past week, making brush and forests highly flammable.
