European Council President Donald Tusk has taken aim at US President Donald Trump, warning him to respect his allies.
"Dear America, appreciate your allies. After all you don't have that many," Tusk's said just a day out from the two day Nato summit in Brussels.
Ahead of the visit, Trump had hit out at the EU for failing to spend enough on defence but Tusk responded by saying the EU spent as much as China and more than Russia on defence.
Trump will spend two days in Brussels before departing for the UK for four days, finishing his trip with a meeting with Russia President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki.
"So I have Nato, I have the UK which is in somewhat turmoil, and I have Putin. Frankly, Putin may be the easiest of them all. Who would you think?" Trump asked reporters as he boarded Air Force One.
