Identity of teenager who pushed her mate off a bridge revealed

The woman who almost killed her friend by pushing her off a bridge has been identified as 18-year-old Taylor Smith.

Jordan Holgerson was standing at the edge of the bridge in Washington, about to back out of a jump when Miss Smith allegedly pushed her from behind, sending her plunging into water 18 metres below at the base of Moulton Falls.

The 16-year-old landed on her chest, breaking five ribs, puncturing both lungs and bruising her oesophagus.

Pictures posted to social media show Ms Smith partying at Clark County Fair just days after the incident.

According to Daily Mail, sources say that she "doesn't care" and has been going about "as if nothing happened".

A source close to the family told The Sun: "Taylor hasn't been to visit Jordan to see if she is ok. She clearly doesn't care.

"She messaged Jordan to say sorry but nobody thinks it was a sincere apology."

Ms Holgerson has since spoken out after suffering serious injuries when she fell into the water below.

The teenager told reporters she has been in a lot of pain without medication, and says all she was thinking when she felt herself falling was what to do next.

"I tried to push myself straight so my feet would hit first. That didn't work," she said.

"In the air I think I might have fainted, but when I was in the water I was awake and aware. I couldn't breathe."

Ms Holgerson said that Ms Smith had apologised.

Washington trauma surgeon Mary Clare Sarf told NBC affiliate KGW she could have died.

"When someone falls from a distance three times his or her height there is a 50 percent chance the person dies. Holgerson's fall was much greater than three times her height.

"When you're falling from that height, the water is like concrete."

Moulton Falls is a popular jumping spot, though signage warns people against it.
