The best man and another guest of a wedding in Poland were killed in a horror car crash while rushing to drop off the rings.
The pair, named only as Mateusz and Barek, are believed to have been killed instantly, australscope reported.
The incident took place in the village of Grebow, in south-eastern Poland.
Local media reports suggest an overtaking manoeuvre misfired, sending their car off the road, where it collided with a concrete sign and then a tree. Mateusz was reportedly driving.
Conditions on the day were clear, according to Piotr Walkowicz from the Prosecutors Office in Stalowa Wola. An investigation into the incident is underway, australscope reported.
Although police, ambulance and fire crews were present, Mr Walkowicz from the Prosecutor’s Office says there was “no chance” of the pair being rescued, describing the injuries they sustained as “unimaginable.”
"The car was scrap metal," he said.
Guests reportedly retrieved the wedding rings from the wreckage, and the wedding ceremony then proceeded despite the very recent tragedy.
The pair, both 24, were reportedly friends of the groom since their school years. Tributes have flowed for the men, australscope reported.
An unnamed teacher from their high school described them as the most “positive, kind and nice people you can imagine”.
