A school in the US state of Georgia is looking to bring back old disciplinary measures, asking parents to sign permission slips to paddle misbehaving students behind closed doors.
The permission slip issued by the Georgia School of Innovation and the Classics says it would bring in a 'three strike policy'.
It details how the student 'will be taken into an office and the door closed' before they 'place their hands on their knees or a piece of furniture' and 'struck on the buttocks with a paddle'.
It adds that a student would not be subjected to 'more than three licks' of the paddle.
WRDW reported that over 100 of the forms had been returned, with nearly one third of parents consenting to the policy.
If parents do not consent to the policy, they must agree to the alternative of up to five days suspension.
Although it hasn't been used in public schools for some time, paddling is still legal in Georgia and 19 other states in the US.
