Donald Trump has a higher approval rating than Barack Obama did at the same point in his time as president, according to a new poll.
A poll conducted by NBC and the Wall Street Journal found that Mr Trump's approval rating sits at 47 percent, two points higher than Mr Obama at the same point in his presidency.

While the poll is undoubtedly positive news for the current president, there are still more voters who are disapproving of his presidency than there are approving of it.
The poll result is also a significant boost for the Republican party in the lead up to next month's mid-term elections.
Mr Trump's 47 percent approval rating is the highest of his term. He sat at 44 percent in the last poll conducted by the news outlet in September.
