Yosemite Park: Two visitors fall to their deaths from Taft Point

  • 26/10/2018

Two visitors to California's Yosemite National Park have fallen to their deaths at a popular but extremely dangerous place to take pictures.

And there's been a spate of deaths at the famous park.

The edge of the iconic overlook at Taft Point is more than 3000 ft high and is a popular spot for newlyweds and hikers to stand extremely close to the edge to get the perfect photo.

Park Rangers caution the tourist of the dangers of the point, however, deaths are not uncommon, CBS reports.

Last month an Israeli teen died when visiting a waterfall near the point when he slipped backwards while taking a selfie.

In June two rock climbers plunged to their death while scaling the face of El Capitan.

And a month earlier, a tourist hiking Half Dom lost his grip from the cable pathway and feel to his death.

Famous wind surfer Dean Potter died in 2015 after leaping from Taft Point. His flying partner Graham Hunt also died in the jump.
