Postman's moving reply to 7yo boy after delivering card to dead father 'in heaven'

A solo Scottish mum has had her "faith restored in humanity" after the Royal Mail sent her seven-year-old son Jase a letter to let him know they had delivered his card to his late father in heaven.

Teri Copland's son Jase had written a note requesting that the postman "take this to heaven for my dad's birthday".

He lost his father James in 2014. The death was sudden, and James was only 28 years-old.

He told his mum that he wanted to send the card because "everyone should get a card on their birthday, even if they don't get a present".

Shortly after he had posted his card, Jase was thrilled to receive a response from the Royal Mail letting him know they had successfully delivered the letter to James.

"I wanted to take this opportunity to contact you about how we succeeded in the delivery of your letter to your dad in heaven," Assistant Delivery Office Manager Sam Millgan wrote.

"This was a difficult challenge, avoiding starts and other galactic objects en route to heaven".

Ms Copland took to Facebook to post how grateful she was to the Royal Mail

"I actually cannot state how emotional he is knowing his dad got his card," she said.

"You didn't have to make the effort to do this you could have just ignored it but the fact that yous have made the effort for a little boy you've never met is such a lovely thing to do (sic)."

Ms Copland's post has now gone viral, receiving over 12,000 comments and 69,000 shares on Facebook.
