An American woman has survived two near-death experiences in less than 24 hours, after she escaped a mass shooting and from her home, which was engulfed in flames.

Deseriee Edman, 28, was at the country music bar in California when 28-year-old Marine Corp David Long entered and opened fire on November 7.

Twelve people were killed before Long ended his own life.

Ms Edman escaped the shooting, but the next day was again hit by tragedy when her family's home was burnt in the Californian wildfires, Yahoo 7 News reports.

One of the three massive fires, the Woolsey Fire, broke out on November 8, engulfing the Malibu home and forcing the family to evacuate.

"Two near-death experiences that you just don't expect," Ms Edman told local outlet KCBS.

"I'm trying to stay strong as possible for my family and my friends, and I'm trying to look at everything as positive as I can in these types of situations."
