A mother in Perth has been charged after she allegedly poured bleach into the feeding tubes of her chronically ill baby.
Brooke Lucas was arrested by detectives from the Child Abuse Squad for trying to kill her 13-month old baby William by attempting to poison him, 9news reported.
Baby William was born 14 weeks premature and suffers from a rare disease that requires constant care.
Police allege she poured the bleach into his feeding tube five days after he was discharged from hospital on December 24 last year.
He was rushed back to hospital where doctors managed to treat him before the bleach seriously harmed his body, 9News reported.
Lucas had posted on Facebook that she was happy her son would be home for Christmas.
"I am in tears after he was so sick Friday and Saturday that he needed to be admitted into hospital. Doctors think he had bronchitis. But has bounced back better than ever."
