President Donald Trump tweeted a bizarre photo of himself on Wednesday morning that's left social media users confused.
The president shared a photo of his face photoshopped onto fictional boxer Rocky Balboa's bare-chested, buff body, but offered no explanation for why he posted it.
The photo used in Trump's tweet was originally the movie poster for Rocky III, but the background appears to be swapped for the audience at his rally on Tuesday, according to Business Insider.
The tweet was sent while on a trip to one of his Florida golf clubs during his Thanksgiving holiday at Mar-a-Lago.
Business Insider reported the photo might be a response to people who scrutinised a two-hour doctor's visit he had on November 16 that resulted in speculation about the state of his health. Others said that Wednesday was the 34th anniversary of Rocky IV and he was celebrating that, even though he got the wrong movie.
His tweet led to an outpouring of commentary online including many 'expectation versus reality' memes.
"Is it just me or did this Trump Rocky photo make anyone else throw up in their mouth a little?" one Twitter user said, before attaching the photoshopped image and a picture of the real, less-buff Trump.
Another user had photoshopped Trump's face onto a fit and athletic body and made a fake Men's Health magazine cover. The caption said: "AB-solutely America's BEST President".
But his son Donald Trump Junior defended his father by tweeting he'd "heard from reliable sources that it's not doctored".
Sylvester Stallone, who played Rocky, is yet to comment about the photo.
