A Sydney train commuter's video of a group of boys singing a Tongan church song has gone viral after it was posted to Facebook.

Maria Nichols Bucci told 7 News she was in the carriage in front when she heard the boys singing in the next carriage.

"So I decided to walk through to the next carriage where the boys were, not knowing who they are, and I just felt I had to stop and film it," she said.

"It was so soulful and beautiful coming from these young men."

Bucci says she shared the video because she felt the students needed to be celebrated for their efforts.

"I don't know their names but they were heading towards Cronulla...Your mummas will be proud," she wrote on her Facebook post.

Since the video was shared on Facebook it has gained thousands of views and many users have commented on the post.

"My daughter sent me your post, how very proud I am as a Tongan woman to see these boys singing church songs on the train... as we often see not so nice things happened on the trains with young ones," one woman said.

The teens have yet to be identified.
