An artist has created a striking artwork showing a koala caught in a bushfire on a beach in Geelong, Victoria.
The coastline drawing depicts a helpless koala clutching the top branch of a eucalyptus tree, as flames lick at the bottom of the branch.
The talented artist 'Breathe a Blue Ocean' posted the picture on Instagram, naming the image 'Australia Burning'.
"I am standing in the artwork smelling the smoke, the fire - SurfCoast and Geelong Beaches 'CLOSED' - some species may now become endangered," the artist wrote.
"Wildlife Death Toll ONE BILLION animals."
Another artwork shows a black brumby huddled on the ground, with flames flickering around it.
Many people have posted on Breathe a Blue Ocean's posts in appreciation.
"Heartbreak of a country expressed thru art," said one person.
Another person said: "You are a wonderful soul bringing jaw-dropping art and powerful messages into this world. Thank YOU."
The bushfires have had a devastating impact on wildlife populations, with roughly 1 billion animals estimated to have perished in the fires.
At least 6.3 million hectares of land across the country have been burned since the start of the 2019 fire season.
