Terrifying footage of the swift, destructive force of the Australian bushfires has been caught on camera.
Jack Luscombe a resident of Parma, New South Wales (NSW) films as a firestorm rages around his house.
The footage, captured on New Year's Eve opens on a windy, smoky day and trees surround Luscombe's property.
A man, presumably Luscombe, is seen hosing down his deck while wearing a white coverall suit and a gas mask.
The video, filmed in a time-lapse mode captures the daylight hours till nightfall.
When it gets dark, a tree catches on fire, causing sparks to fly creating a purple haze.
The fire lights up the house and yard as the flames destroy everything in its wake - except the house.
In the video, Luscombe doesn't flee, he waters his house as the blaze continues to rage.
The video also captures the aftermath of the fire.
Charred trees once bearing leaves stand bare. The grass appears dry and brown.
Firefighters stationed in NSW and Victoria have had a brief but welcome respite due to this week's rainfall and milder conditions. However, the temperatures are expected to flare up once more this weekend.
