Nicki Minaj's brother has been sentenced on Monday to 25 years - life imprisonment for repeatably raping an 11-year-old girl at his Long Island home, reports NBC News.
Jelani Maraj, 41, was first charged for raping a minor in 2015 and was found guilty for predatory sexual assault against a child and endangering the welfare of a child in November, 2017.
Nassau County Supreme Court Judge, Robert McDonald, sentenced Maraj to 25 years - life on the first count and 364 days on the second count, according to the district attorney's office cited by NBC news. The sentencings will run at the same time.
The girl testified during the trial saying Maraj sexually assaulted her numerous times during 2015, sometimes two times a day, while her mother was away at work.
The girl's brother also testified against Maraj as he once witnessed an assault.
Reports also claim that the prosecutors said DNA evidence found on the girl's pajama pants was related to Maraj.
His lawyer read out a letter from his sister, Nicki Minaj, saying he was the most "patient, gentle, genuine, giving selfless man I know", reported NBC News.
However, the letter did not stop Judge McDonald from giving out the maximum sentence and telling Maraj "you ruined this child".
Maraj's lawyer, Stephen Scaring, said he is going to appeal the judge's decision.
