A Chinese lawyer and activist has gone missing after sneaking into Wuhan to report on the coronavirus stricken city.
Chen Qiushi made his way into Wuhan the day after the lockdown was imposed on January 23 to create footage for his Youtube account.
Qiushi stopped replying to calls and messages on February 6.
Before going missing, Qiushi had posted footage of inside hospitals and interviews with local residents online.
Friends said he believed his videos would make him a target for law enforcement and gave them access to his online accounts.
Xu Xiaodong, a friend of Qiushi's, has since said in a Youtube livestream that security officers have told his parents that Qiushi has been put into a forced quarantine in an undisclosed location.
“Qiushi’s mother immediately asked them where and when he was taken away; they declined to say,” Xu was quoted saying by the Washington Post.
