A four-month-old baby from Arizona died on Saturday after his mother fell on him as she suffered a heart attack
Police reported baby Denari suffocated when his mother Larinique Meadows, 38, collapsed during the medical emergency.
Both mother and son died in the double tragedy.
Meadows had researched chest pains on her phone but did not call 911.
Detective Greg Bacon of Tempe Police Arizona described the incident as "very, very tragic".
"We believe that she had some sort of heart condition, heart episode, and then passed away and fell on top of Denari," Bacon said.
The baby's father who works a night shift was asleep upstairs during the incident and woke up six hours later to find the bodies.
Detective Bacon said he mourned for the father.
"He seems to be very hard-working, trying to provide for his family, works nights, ran some errands that morning for the family, specifically for the baby.
"So, it’s just a very tragic situation."
A memorial of flowers and a candle have been left outside the family home.
