President Donald Trump's friend and former campaign advisor is denying calling a black radio host a racial slur live on air.
In an interview with Morris W. O'Kelly on Saturday, Roger Stone was grilled over his escape from a 40-month-prison sentence thanks to Trump.
Despite being convicted of witness tampering and making false statements to Congress about Russia's influence in the 2016 election, Stone will not face jail time.
He told O'Kelly his 2019 conviction was the result of bias against himself and Trump.
"It was a jury of my political opponents," he said.
O'Kelly challenged that Stone did not get a fair trial, saying he likely benefited from knowing the president.
"I'm guessing it was more than just luck, Roger, right?" he said.
After a brief silence, Stone appeared to move away from his phone before saying "I don't really feel like arguing with this negro."
O'Kelly immediately called him out, saying "What did you say?"
But Stone denied ever saying the slur saying O'Kelly was "out of his mind".
He later called it a "smear by a left-wing radio host".
Speaking to the Christian Broadcasting Network on Saturday he said there was "cross-talk" that "garbled" the exchange.
"The idea that I would use a racial term is nonsensical."
O'Kelly addressed the issue on Twitter, posting that he was "nobody's Negro".
