A British air hostess is being held in a notorious Dubai prison after authorities seized two cannabis joints during a raid of her date's apartment.
Emirates air stewardess Derrin Crawford, 23, was on a first date when local authorities executed a search of the man's property.
Crawford, who resides in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), was held at a police station for several days before being transferred to the notorious Al Barsha jail, The Sun reports.
That's despite a blood test confirming there were no drugs in her system.
Speaking to the Mail Online, Crawford's sister Danielle said she is fearful for the 23-year-old's safety.
"She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time," Danielle, 28, told the outlet. "She doesn't drink or smoke and has a good job with Emirates, so it is a shame she has got caught up in all this.
"She's only 23 and is just so scared."
Crawford was arrested on June 21 and managed to get in touch with her family four days later, according to The Sun.
It's believed Crawford met the man, a marketing executive from London, during a night out.
The British Embassy are reportedly looking into Crawford's case but have yet to visit her at Al Barsha, while her family are attempting to find her legal representation.
In a statement to The Sun, a spokesperson for the Foreign Office confirmed Crawford is currently detained in the UAE and details of local lawyers have been provided to her family.
"[We] will look to visit her when local lockdown restrictions are lifted," the spokesperson said.
