Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews was 'stumped' after being asked why parking ticket inspectors were allowed to work during stage four lockdown.
In a press conference on Tuesday, he was told a Melbourne doctor finished her shift to find a parking fine on her car dashboard.
"Well firstly, firstly... ah let me follow up on that matter, ah, I'm sure well let me follow up on that matter," he replied.
Katarina Arandjelovic, a doctor at the Royal Melbourne Intensive Care Unit tweeted a photo of her parking fine after her shift on Monday night.
"I worked 56 hours over four days in helping look after some of our state's sickest patients," she said.
"At 10pm last night, I left work to find a fine on my car dashboard."
"In lockdown, who do you think is parking in the streets by the hospital? It is the doctors, nurses, orderlies, pharmacists, physios, technicians, cleaners, cooks, ward clerks."
"It is not easy, but every single person in that building is working their butt off right now. We make sacrifices and turn up - day in, day out, to serve you."
"So I guess @cityofmelbourne and @sallycapp, slapping fines on our cars is one hell of a thank you."
The Victorian Premier responded to the issue by saying, "no, I don't think that it's appropriate at all".
"In relation to parking inspectors though, I think you know," he said, "they work for the city of Melbourne, another local government."
Andrews then said he would personally "follow up" on the infringement issued to the doctor.
