An illegal fight club was disbanded in New York City on Saturday night after sheriffs found over 200 people drinking, smoking and fighting.

The sheriffs were alerted to the "Rumble in the Bronx" at 11:15pm on Saturday at a warehouse on Coster Street in Hunts Point.

NBC New York reported they found a massive crowd of over 200 people "watching and participating in an amateur fighting event".

"Patrons were also observed drinking alcohol, smoking, hookah, and not wearing face coverings while failing to social distance," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

After disbanding the event, deputies found and seized two illegal guns and "a significant amount of marijuana".

In a tweet on Saturday night, the sheriff's office said the event was in violation of COVID-19 restrictions, there was illegal combat, and no liquor licence.

In total 10 people were arrested including Rumble in the Bronx CEO Michael Roman who will face eight charges for the event.
