A two-month-old girl with injection marks has died after testing positive for heroin, San Angelo police say.
Brixlee Marie Lee was rushed to Shannon Medical Centre after police found her unconscious at a residence in west Texas last Saturday.
Medical staff found injection marks on her extremities and head, and her urine tested positive for heroin, police said.
Later that day, Brixlee was transported to Cook Children's Medical Center and placed on life support.
She died on Tuesday after succumbing to her injuries.
The infant's mother, Destiney Harbour, 21, was arrested on Saturday, along with the girl's grandmother, Christin Bradley, 37, and Bradley's boyfriend, Dustin Smock, 34.
All three have been charged with causing serious bodily injury to a child.
When the residence was searched, investigators found what they believed to be heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana and pills, 7News reported.
The investigation is ongoing and Brixlee's body has been sent for autopsy, police say.
The bond for Harbour was set at US$100,000 (NZ$146,000), with Smock being held on a US$50,000 (NZ$73,000) bond. Bradley was released on Sunday on a US$50,000 bond.
