A Queensland family is considering suing Dreamworld after their 8-year-old daughter suffered severe injuries to her genitals on one of their water slides.
The girl's mother Sarah told The Courier Mail they had been visiting WhiteWater World last month when her daughter and other children decided to try the Fully6 slide, 7News reported.
But Sarah said once the girl got to the bottom she was crying and there was blood "everywhere".
"I didn't know where it was coming from, I was freaking out," she said.
"The blood was just pouring out of her ... she was crying 'Mum, am I gonna die?'"
Sarah said there was no staff around, except for a young man who pointed to the first-aid room where a female staff member suggested the girl had gotten her period.
"I said, 'she's eight years' old ... this is not her period'," Sarah said.
"She's crying, in pain, bleeding everywhere. They didn't take it seriously."
Eventually, an ambulance was called, taking the girl to the hospital where she underwent surgery for a severe vaginal tear.
Her recovery is expected to take two months.
Sarah told the Courier Mail she has called in lawyers to investigate the incident.
In a statement on Tuesday, Dreamworld told 7News the girl met all of the height and weight requirements for the ride and was given "detailed and repeated" instructions on how to position herself during the ride.
"The injury was reported to Workplace Health and Safety Queensland by WhiteWater World upon the guest's admission to hospital and an internal investigation continues.
"Our thoughts remain with the guest and her family and we wish her a full and fast recovery."
This comes after Dreamworld and WhiteWater World's parent company Ardent Leisure was fined NZ$3.8 million in September over the deaths of four people in 2016.
New Zealander Cindy Low, Kate Goodchild, Luke Dorsett and his partner Roozi Araghi died when the Thunder River Rapids Ride malfunctioned and threw them over the raft.
