Three people have drowned after being swept out to sea at a popular lookout in New South Wales.
The men were with two others at the Hill 60 lookout in the Illawarra region on Friday when a large wave knocked them down.
Two of the men made it back to shore but the other three aged 45, 49 and 69 drowned. Assistant Superintendent Gordon Dunlop told 7 News conditions were dangerous.
"I believe five went into the water," he said.
"Two made it to land safely which then gave us the three gentlemen that were located deceased."
Search teams continued to scour the water on Saturday morning for property and belongings of those involved.
