Ivanka Trump wouldn't go to prison on her father's watch - but Donald Jr might.
That's according to Michael Cohen, the former lawyer to ex-US President Donald Trump.
In a wide-ranging interview with The Lincoln Project, Cohen revealed that in 2012, when both Ivanka and Donald Jr were looking likely to face criminal charges, Trump said it should be his son that went to prison.
"Donald says to me, 'If one of the two has to end up going, let it be Don: he can handle it,'” Cohen recalled Trump saying.
This conversation is alleged to have happened in 2012, when the Manhattan District Attorney's Office was considering pursuing felony fraud charges against Trump's two eldest children. They had allegedly deliberately provided misleading information to potential buyers at the Trump SoHo hotel.
As The New Yorker understands, the case was dropped after Trump's attorney donated $25,000 to the re-election campaign of the Manhattan District Attorney, Cyrus Vance, Jr.
Conversations over Trump's real estate history as been brought up in reference to the current unfolding situation of Trump Chief Financial Advisor Allen Weisselberg potentially being charged for tax fraud.
RawStory understands it is a similar situation to the one faced by Trump's children years ago.
