An earthquake of magnitude 6.8 struck near Panama on Thursday (NZT), the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.
The quake was at a depth of 2km, according to EMSC.
The US National Tsunami Warning Center says a tsunami is not expected after the quake.
Panama's Civil Protection Agency says it is monitoring the area where the earthquake struck, but there are no reports of damage at this stage.
Another trembler with a magnitude of 6.3 and a depth of 22 km also struck near Panama, EMSC said.
