A man has been arrested in India after he allegedly threatened to rape Virat Kohli's daughter following India's loss to Pakistan at the T20 World Cup.
Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma have a 10-month-old daughter and have received widespread backlash on social media after India was beaten by ten wickets by Pakistan.
A 23-year-old man has been arrested after his comment went viral and was shared to raise awareness.
The rivalry between the two nations is always tense and has spoiled over with Mohammed Shami - the only Muslim player in the Indian cricket team - also receiving abuse online.
The Indian skipper defended his teammate following the defeat labelling the unneeded abuse online as "spineless" and having "no courage".
"There's a good reason why we are playing on the field and not some bunch of spineless people on social media that have no courage to actually speak to any individual in person," Kohli says.
"We stand by him fully. We are backing him 200 percent - Our brotherhood, our friendship within the team - nothing can be shaken."
Following Koli's defence of his players, he has now been on the receiving end of the abuse online.
This saw police arrest a man in Hyderabad who allegedly made the rape threat on social media toward's Kohli's 10-month-old daughter.
Police said the arrest was part of an investigation into a number of Twitter accounts that allegedly made off remarks towards the family.
