American toddlers develop Australian accent after watching Bluey cartoon, parents find

A US mum has discovered her toddler has developed an Australian accent after watching a cartoon - and other American parents say it's happening to their kids too.

South Louisiana mum Candice took to TikTok after noticing the change, posting a video of her son saying "no" and "no way" with an Australian twang.

The mum was confused as to where he got the accent from as no one in her family is Australian.

"Then it clicked when I turned on the TV," the mum wrote in the caption for her TikTok video.

"When you watch too much Bluey you get an Australian accent."

Bluey is a popular Australian cartoon about a Blue Heeler family who lives in the suburbs.

The video received more than 220,000 views within 48 hours.

Several other parents commented on the video saying their children had also changed their vocabulary because of the cartoon.

"My daughter used the word dunny for toilet the other day and calls her brother cheeky," one mum commented.

Another mum commented saying her son refers to "gas stations as petrol stations".

The cartoon is about Bluey and her sister Bingo who go on adventures together. Each episode is seven minutes long.
